Ok, so i totally forgot about having a live journal.

Well... let's see... we are moving to California (for those of you who do not know this) on May 28th!

I hope everyone is well, and enjoying the summer! :o)

I can't promise that i will keep up with this place agian, sorry...so much going on in life i feel overwhelmed with all of the online world sometimes. but i will try to find more time to keep up here too.

ok, i've created website after website over the years, i've had:

and i think there were a couple more WAY back when.
so here is the deal...i need a website name that i like and that will stick!

ANY suggestions will be considered and then i will do a poll later (if anyone answers this that is desperate help posting lol) and see what that can get me. I seem to be at a loss for a muse these days when coming up with a name!

Obviously, i like "blue" but it doesn't have to be in the website name. I just want something quirky, but simi-professional because i want to use it to post my work, photography, and poetry. And then of course it can't already be taken as a web address, which seems to get harder and harder these days!

Part of conscious capitalism is vigilant defense of your mindshare. Just cuz they're sellin' don't mean you have to buy, or even pay attention. Your time, and especially your attention, are the most precious things you own, and the 21st century has made our culture the battlefield to harvest those things from you as much as possible.

The first step is awareness.

listening to music will not fulfill you

watching movies will not fulfill you
playing games will not fulfill you

Stranger Danger!

Maybe it's just me and my overactive CSI watching mind...? But i do not allow STRANGERS into my home, ever! Today my husband had the day off from work. *knock, knock, knock* on the front door at around 11am. I said, "it's probably the mail lady if you want to answer and see if it's a package" So he get's up, answeres the door...and i can kind of hear her talking. It was a door-to-door sales person. I hear her as clear as if she was talking to me say, "so, can i come in and sit down and talk with you?" He said, "sure." I'm like....WHAT????! I'm sitting on the couch watching tv in my PJ's (so was he!). He leans into the back room and say's, "i'm not sure what she wants?" I give him the look of 'i'm gonna kick your ass if she comes inside our house' and tell him..."do NOT let her in our house!"

He goes back to the door and i'm leaning over watching this woman and now a MAN walk into our home. She's like, "so can i just like sit down." I got kinda mad and got up and said, "NO you can please LEAVE my house now!"

They walked out promptly.

But OMG! How old is my husband? My own 8 year old daughter knows to NOT let a complete stranger into our home. Not just 1 person, but he was about to let 2 people in that he still isn't quite sure what they were selling (if anything!)

I'm really not a happy camper with him today. I tried to talk to him about the situation, and he felt i was being over active with my thinking. i don't know that i will ever trust to leave him alone with Claire right now. If he is dumb enough to fall for a tall blonde door-to-door sales person with the "i'll be right back" and she comes back with a Strange MAN who now wants to come in our house! I honestly don't know what he was thinking?

So, is it normal to let door-to-door sales people into your home? I've never, ever done it! It's like living as a woman rule 101 in my book. But i supose he isn't a woman and didn't ever learn this rule of not allowing strangers into your home for NO reason other than saying, "can i come in and talk with you about 'our product'?" Not even knowing what the product was! She never said what she was selling when he said she could come inside and then would be back...coming back with another person.

Maybe i should think more of people of the world, but i watch the news and i see people every single night who did something dumb and something dumb/bad happened to them. I'm not only protecting myself in this life, but thinking of the safty of my daughter as well. Evidentally, my husband can take care of himself ;-)

Are there any truly happy families?

It seems once again i've let my self-control escape me in dealing with family drama. I like to think of myself as a person who knows who she wants to be in life...but often times has trouble getting everyone else on the same boat! ;-)

So i am only on day 7 of the New Year...and i'm already finding the path to re-self-discovery to be a challenge of more than just getting to know me and where i want to be this year. It also has to do with my mom, brother, sister, father, etc. Do i really need these people in my life to be "happy"? Would i be less happy to wake up 10 years from now and have not had them in my life? Would i be happier if i only spoke to them once a month, once a year, once in a long while? What kind of distance is far enough (obviously 45 minutes isn't doing it) in real terms of dealing with family members who can always just pick up the phone and call me up to make me feel this terrible all in a few mintues.

I keep watching movies to escape everyday life and to enjoy time with my family of 3. Often times i put myself in the shoes of who i am watching and think..."i'm glad that isn't me!". But there are too many times where i think..."why can't that be me?". My life is far from terrible, it is also far from perfect...it is just my life.

Today we watched the "The Nanny Diaries" (good movie BTW) and as i was watching this movie...i realzied more than a few things about life. We can't always be in two places at once, and if one of those places is a choice of being with your child or one of being without your child...you should always pick the one of being there for your child. It get's hard when you are torn between work, husband, friends, and your child. But even though i spend many, many, many hours with Claire....i sometimes will pick doing something for a friend or family member over spending the day with Claire at the zoo/park/home. She will be dragged along with me doing what i feel like doing because i just get the feeling of it being more important than doing something "silly and childlike" even for just a day.

i also realized that we tend to treat the non-family people around us like they matter a little too much. I notice people talking really nice to me, and then turn around and are YELLING at their child for no reason other than to be yelling at them. I've really noticed that a lot of adults are known to their friends and collegues as super-great people, but if you were to just sit back and watch them with thier family...they aren't all roses and sunshine! A lot of women yell and scream and throw tantrums towards their families, but are picture perfect towards their friends. Why is this? Are things twisted too much in our daily life? Shouldn't our children be the people who are most loved...and not the guy in the corner office who might give you a raise one day (so you think you should kiss his ass now)?

I really do not know how i will ever deal with having a great relationship with my family members, i think there is just too much anger about too many issues with everyone involved and no one wants to talk about the past, just keep moving forward and ignoring the many years of hurt feelings. I've tried to bring up things, and every single time i get either "shut up, Michele"...or "you're remembering it all wrong and worse than it was". I suppose they feel it is better not remembered correctly and not talked about? I can't remember the last really "happy" moment with my parents and siblings. I honestly do not know if there really ever was a time when we were all getting along and not in fear of someone saying the wrong thing and us being able to just be there and be happy to be around each other?

day 7...of a journey that is for sure to take the entire year! :o)

TV...movies....music...too much?

*i'm back after a long break*

So over the break we've been watching a lot of movies and tv. I've realized how much TV/Movies make us who we are in life, even if we do not stop and think about it.

Claire quotes movies and i don't even pause to think it strange. We make reference to people acting like people from a movie or tv. And this next one may only be me...if i drop my house/car keys when i am all alone...i have to stop and take notice of my suroundings...because people in the movies always drop their keys before someone sneaks up behind them lol

Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Does anyone have their own true personality in life? We create who we are by what we see around us... what we watch on the big screen, see in magazines, and even read in books. I can't even count how many times i've been standing in my kitchen and the refridge door swings back open and i think of how great it would be to have a magical wand like in Harry Potter and say a little charm to make it shut back again.

I catch myself doing things or talking like a character from a movie and normally just think of it is no big deal. But part of my "new years resolution" is to find myself and become a happier person, be happy with who i am and not want to change who i am all of the time. Then it came to me that i am too many characters rolled up into one person...in order to really get to who i am...i would have to take out all of the people i've met, watched on movies, and read in books over the years!

I thought about taking the tv and unplugging it *gasp* for awhile so i was not tempted to quote or act like anyone else but myself. Then a realization came over me again...how far out of the norm i would be by taking tv/movies/books out of my life. Who doesn't know the quotes from tv, movies, books...even the news personalities!? I think that maybe i was over-thinking the getting to know myself? I can't imagine not being able to have quirky come-back's in a conversation that came from a movie that i love!

So, the question of my new year is, "who am i really?" and do i really want to change who i am in my quest to find myself this year?

so i just finished watching a (netflix) movie Waitress.

Ok, it's an independent film...it is a story that may not be for everyone out there. But for me, LOVED IT!
Kerri Russel, Natan Fillion....just great in this film.

If you like pushing daisies and that whole pie theme, you should rent this movie! :o)

Adrienne Shelly (writer/director/actress of the movie) - it was sad to watch because she died (was killed) in NY soon after the movie was done....but her character was really cute in this movie. You can learn more about her foundation for film makers here...Adrienne Shelly Foundation

Customer service is whack!

we had to buy a bunch of stuff to remodel Claire's bathroom.
Today we took a bag full of things we did not use back.
there were a total of 7 small items going back on a credit card.
The guy took forever to do the return
he credited the credit card and then handed us back $1.73 in cash.

Ok, with me so far?

I asked him why there was cash back because the entire reciept was on a CREDIT CARD
he just handed me the cash and said, it is what it is.

Me being an over-active thinker...i had to go through the entire receipt to figure it out.
Eureka! He credited back 3 of the same item, when it was only 2 items of the same being returned.

So i took the reciept and cash back up to him.
He looked at me like i was crazy woman giving him this cash back!!!

I guess there aren't that many HONEST people left in the world?
(a true human shame that honesty is wasting away in our world)
He kept trying to get me to just keep the cash (probably because it was easier for him!)
I refuse to take money that i did not 1) earn or 2) spend and am due back for a return

Moral of my story - i guess, are Americans really this lazy at their jobs
and was i crazy for taking back $1.73???

Urgh! stupid recalls....i mean, i'm glad that they are telling people that things they buy are making them sick....but it seems to be things that i buy!

First it was my favorite thing to eat...spinach! I have not had any since that whole ordeal of the e-coli last spring. I'm sure it is a fluke and won't happen agian, but i miss spinach salads. Then it was the salad bag's "hearts of romaine" by dole. Then it was Claire's barbie toys with lead....that were BRAND NEW!!!!!!!!!! and now it's the mini pizza's that i JUST bought *sigh*

I give up. Is ANYTHING safe to eat (or buy) anymore out there? I might as well buy a cow, make my own cheese and milk for Claire and grow my own food in a greehouse. Now if i could only live in an area that had better weather year round!

City Drivers

I do not actually live in a "major" city, but our town has taken on some road construction near the interstate on/off ramps to widen the roads to 4 lanes. SO....needless to say taking a short 5 minute drive up to the local Target means waiting to get back home about 20 minutes or longer after 5pm. I just sit there and enjoy the quiet. Today we three were in the car and to my supprise no one in the car asked me to try and pull a "jump ahead" move in the traffic *happy dance* Unless i'm almost out of gas (hopfully never!!!) i just wait my extra 10-15-20 minutes to get home and drink my Starbucks tea ;-)

But man...there were some MORON crazy drivers out there tonight. Riding the side lanes and then cutting b ack over and then doing some crazy u-turns and loop arounds all just to get out of the traffic that they were turning back into lol people are craaaaaaaaaazy i tell ya, CRA-ZY!

Have a safe weekend everyone! We have a 4 day fall break this weekend. We have to drive into the BIG city tomorrow and get Michael's iPod fixed (finally!). Wish us luck on not getting lost, it's been years since i've went into the city (well, this city anyway)! *eek* i want a tom-tom really bad on trips like this. oh well, technology is passing me by on that one until they cost less than 200.00! :o)
